TMJ
TMJD massage is a focused therapeutic approach designed to relieve tension and dysfunction in the jaw, neck, and surrounding muscles. It best serves individuals experiencing jaw pain, clenching, grinding (bruxism), or limited jaw movement related to temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJD).

• A specialized massage targeting the muscles of the jaw, face, neck, and shoulders to reduce pain and improve jaw function.
• Releases chronic tension caused by jaw clenching, teeth grinding, and stress-related holding patterns.
• Helps alleviate symptoms such as jaw clicking, headaches, earaches, and facial discomfort.
• May include intraoral work (with gloves) to address muscles inside the mouth that directly impact the jaw joint.
• Promotes realignment, relaxation, and improved mobility in the jaw and surrounding areas.
TMJD massage is a detailed and effective therapy for those suffering from temporomandibular joint dysfunction. Whether caused by stress, dental issues, or injury, TMJD can lead to chronic jaw tension, restricted movement, and referred pain throughout the head and neck. Our trained therapists use both external and, when appropriate, intraoral techniques to address the deep muscles that control jaw movement. This work helps restore mobility, ease discomfort, and reduce the unconscious habits—like clenching and grinding—that exacerbate symptoms.
How We Apply This at Strategic Bodywork:
• We gently release tension in the jaw, face, neck, and shoulders to relieve pain and restore function.
• Intraoral massage (if needed and consented to) targets deep jaw muscles for maximum relief. Please refer to individual therapist bios to learn who is trained in intraoral massage.
• Each session is personalized to your comfort and needs—whether you're managing stress-related clenching or recovering from dental work.
