What kind of pressure can I expect to receive?
My pressure ranges from light to deep. I start with gentle grounding touch to calm the client’s nervous system. Then I proceed with medium pressure as I warm up the layers of tissue I am working on. From here I work with deeper pressure and always ask my clients to inform me if the pressure level ever exceeds a 7 on a scale from 1 (very light sensation) to 10 (very painful sensation) so we can reduce the pressure and avoid pain or creating more tension.
What Modalities do I use most?
I trained in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofacsial Release, Cupping Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, Prenatal Massage.
What got you into bodywork?
I have always been interested in anatomy, physiology, and psychology and got my Bachelor’s of Science in neuroscience at UCLA. I then became a middle school science teacher and later decided I wanted to return to the healthcare field. I become a massage therapist because I find great meaning supporting people’s mental, emotional, and physical health and providing pain relief.
What other elements do you bring into your bodywork?
Outside of being a massage therapist I enjoy meditating, being outdoors, traveling, dance, and going to the gym. I like to integrate my knowledge of kinesiology through my personal work out journey into my massage sessions to offer stretches, foam rolling and lacrosse ball self massage techniques, and other tailored self care suggestions such as the use of ice or heat on muscles.
"Zayn is a caring and empathetic massage therapist focused on facilitating the healing of muscles and the client’s nervous system alike. Their neuroscience background helps them approach clients with trauma informed touch and a goal of resetting the nervous system’s muscular holding patterns. They achieve this through collaboration during the session to ensure the pressure of the touch is tailored to the client’s comfort. In that process, Zayn hopes to facilitate a greater sense of mind-body connection. As a former educator, Zayn values teaching clients about the massage techniques they’re using and how it can support their healing goals."
